This, That, and The Other

It seems like it has been forever since I posted last. When the warm weather hits, there are never-ending chores to be done around here. The yard is needing mowed at least twice a week. I have huge flower beds that don’t always get the attention they need. The small garden at my house got planted yesterday and the large one at my grandmas also got planted with the exception of the pickles and the watermelon. With all this outside work, I’ve had no time to do my TurboFire workouts. But trust me, I’m getting plenty of exercise. I will be saving my TurboFire for a rainy day.  I’ve also been working on a few new projects which I will talk about in my next post. But until then, here are a few pictures of my garden from the last two years.

Here are a few of the things we plant in our garden: tomatoes (usually 1 or 2 plants of a large tomato, and also grape, and cherry), onions, green beans, cucumbers, lettuce, peppers (banana, and this year wax peppers), and radishes. In the large garden down at my grandmas we plant peas, potatoes, pickles, and more onions.

If It Wasn’t For The Weather, I Would Love Ohio

I’ve been out of commission for about a week. This nasty sinus stuff hit me last Wednesday and I’m still trying to get over it. I’ve done no exercising…well unless you count the hundreds of times I’ve gotten up to go get a Kleenex. I’m still feeling the effects of it today. Sinus areas are very sore. Head still hurts but not as bad. But on a good note, I CAN BREATH AGAIN! For the first several days I couldn’t breathe through my nose at all. I had a lunch date with a friend last Friday and, sadly, I could taste nothing. What fun is that? Actually my son did ask if we could go walk at the track on Friday night. So we did and walked 1.25 miles. Don’t get me wrong that’s not to bad but we usually do 2.5 – 3 miles with a little jogging in there somewhere. But I just couldn’t. So my TurboFire workouts have been put on hold. I just don’t feel up to it yet. Hopefully within the next couple days I can get back at it.

Anyone else dealing with the nastiness of springtime weather?

Losing It! Week 3- I’m a slacker!

It’s Monday and the first day of week 3 on the TurboFire program. Last week I only got in 2 workouts. Yes, I know, not good! Hence the reason I have not seen any results. This week my goal is to get in all 6 workouts. I bought myself new workout shoes and workout clothes. More motivation for me. Stay tuned to see how this week progresses for me….

Losing It! Week 2 Continued

I’m on the thirst day of my second week. Today is supposed to be a rest day but I’m not so sure about that. Monday I started doing my workouts at night. I think I’m going to like it much better than the early morning workouts. My back is limber by that time and I feel like I have more energy and can move better. I have NEVER been a morning person. Anyone that knows me will agree. Plus I’m one of those people who showers at night. You know there are two kinds of people in this world. Those who shower in the morning and those who shower at night. So I can do my workout at night, then shower, then go to bed. It just works for me.

I continue to feel better. Still no visual change, at least to me. But I am LOVING these workouts. TurboFire is just so motivating. In other workout videos there is always something that drives me crazy. Either its their voice or maybe someone in the group annoys me. But with TurboFire that isn’t the case. I’m still working hard to get the moves down but for the most part its easy as long as you go with the “new to class” version for the first few times.

Also, I continue to struggle with food. That has always been a weakness for me. I need to learn to control cravings.

Losing It! Week 2

My first week with the TurboFire program is done. I wasn’t able to get in all the workouts. Only 4 of the 6. And my eating was not the best last week either. Better but not great. I lost no weight or inches. Totally bummed about that. Why does it have to be such a struggle?  I’m very impatient so I feel like I wanna quit. I need to see results! However, I really like these workouts and I can tell I feel better and am sleeping better. So I guess those are results just not the ones I was looking for.

I’m gonna change some things around this week. I’ve been doing my workouts in the mornings. I am so not a morning person and my lower back is stiff in the mornings. So I’m gonna try to do the workouts in the evenings. This should be interesting because I also go to school in the evenings. I want to see how it works out. Maybe I will have better results. Stay tuned….

Losing It! Day Off

Today is Wednesday. This is my day off from the TurboFire program. Yesterday I did my first HIIT program. HIIT stands for high intensity interval training. The workout only lasts 15 minutes but WOW! It is 15 minutes of high intensity aerobic exercise. It was hard to keep up with and I had to modify a little. But the more I do it the easier it will be. I’m sore today so I must be doing something right. So far I love this program. Looking forward to tomorrows workout.

Since I won’t be doing a workout today, I will go for a walk later assuming that the rain holds off. Stay tuned for the next update.

Losing It! Week 1

This is the first official week of my Losing It! series. Last week I started walking but only got 1 walk in. My weekend got a little crazy so there was no time for another walk. Life happens sometimes and you just have to learn to deal with it.

I just finished my first TurboFire workout. It is very intense and high impact. As I mentioned before, it is a 90 day program. I’m going to do my best to follow it as close as possible. On each of the workouts you have the option to do the “New to class” section. That is what I did today. She walks you through the routine before you start. Some of the moves will take me a little time to get right but overall I thought it was great. My heart rate was high and I was sweating. There is always a separate stretching  program each day. She includes some yoga into it which I really like. I’m really looking forward to another workout tomorrow.

Yesterday I made a chart and measured myself. I’m using the inside of a closet door to hang my workout program on and also the measurement chart. I also need to take before pictures so I can hang those on the closet door. Since the workout program is there I will have to see the chart and pictures everyday when I check the workout program. I will not, however, be posting pics until the program is done. Just can’t bring myself to post those pics on here yet.

I’m also still reading the Weigh Down Diet. Seems like it takes me forever to get through a book. My aunt read part of the book last Sunday while we were all at my grandma’s house. Last week she applied what she had read in the book. And yesterday she told me she had lost 5 lbs. Isn’t that just great? I’m looking forward to seeing some results myself.
